As many of my patients will tell you, chiropractic care has had a hugely positive effect on their health and wellbeing. If you’ve been following my blog or Facebook page, you know that there is always new research being published showing the benefits of chiropractic in patients with a vast range of health conditions from injuries, to glaucoma, to multiple sclerosis and even cancer. It’s all amazing, and all important. But a new study shows there can be benefits to every human being on Earth…

…because we all have a heart.

This study, conducted by Amy Haas DC, Ph.D and Dave Russell DC, shows that chiropractic may have a vital role in improving heart rate variability (HRV) which is a critical measure of neurological and cardiovascular health. As reported in the Chiropractic Journal of Australia: “Six patients between 25 to 55 years of age all presented with primarily musculoskeletal complaints for chiropractic care in a private practice setting. All patients were nonsmokers with no reported cardiac pathology. All patients were initially assessed for indicators of vertebral subluxation before being accepted for chiropractic care, and were monitored for changes in HRV scores over time.”

All patients received chiropractic care to correct vertebral subluxations, for periods ranging from 10 to 52 weeks, with a frequency of 2 to 3 visits per week. HRV increased by 50-300% of pre-care measurements during the early weeks of chiropractic care and these increases were sustained in all patients while they remained under long term continuous chiropractic care.

This. Is. Freaking. Huge.

These research findings demonstrate “long-term change consistent with improved neurophysiological regulation, adaptability and resilience in patients undergoing chiropractic care” as well as that chiropractic care is useful for supporting health far beyond just symptomatic relief of musculoskeletal issues.

Put simply, chiropractic is not just for pain relief, but supports the MOST VITAL functions of your body. What’s not to LOVE about that?
