Have you ever sensed, as you open an email or letter, that what you are about to read is going to be HUGE news? The kind of news that FINALLY confirms what you’ve had a gut feeling about for years, and you can’t help but shout YES!!!!! when you see it?
That kind of news came in the form of an email update from the Science Committee of the International Federation of Chiropractors and Organizations, containing an article citing 21 published research studies that boil down to this:
Recent advancements in science and technology are revealing numerous beneficial effects of the correction of vertebral subluxation (improper motion or position of spinal bones that interferes with nerve communications between the brain and any parts of the body) by chiropractic adjustment. With modern technology, researchers have found a correlation between loss of normal curvature or dysfunction of the of the cervical (neck area) spine and reduced blood flow to the brain, AND (here’s the YES!!!!! moment) that restoring normal curvature and function to the cervical spine with chiropractic care IMPROVED blood flow to the brain.
What does this mean for health? Individuals who are NOT under chiropractic care to check for and correct vertebral subluxations may have persistent dysfunction in blood flow to the brain, especially those with vertebral subluxations with a history of trauma to the head or neck such as concussion or whiplash injury. Loss of blood flow to the brain can potentially contribute to brain degeneration, Alzheimer’s, and dementia.
By correcting vertebral subluxations and thus restoring normal function to the cervical spine, chiropractic care can help to maximize proper blood flow to the brain, impacting lifelong brain health, and as is often observed in practice, the health of the body and well-being of the individual overall.
In our office, our one goal is working with your spine and nervous system and here’s what we see:
Wow, right?! As you can see clearly from these x-rays there was HUGE change in the curvature of the cervical spine. While we were not able to measure changes in blood flow to this individual’s brain while under chiropractic care, this patient did report significant improvements in overall HEALTH, FUNCTION, and VITALITY!
